Condensing boilers are popular because of their easy installation and efficiency thanks to the ability to recover heat by condensing the flue gas. However, the resulting condensate has an acidic pH and is therefore potentially dangerous and corrosive to the domestic flue system. With the installation of Acid X® VENT mounted downstream of the boiler, this problem is solved by neutralizing the acidity of the condensate.

Why use HCE Acid X® VENT neutralizers?

HCE Acid X® VENT acid condensate neutralizers protect domestic drains from corrosion. They are resistant to chemicals in boiler condensate water vapor, they allow quick and easy maintenance thanks to the removable transparent container and include an atmospheric vent plug.

Condensing boilers are very common in homes, but they involve the production of acid condensate that cannot always be directly disposed into the sewer. Installing an HCE Acid X® VENTacid condensate neutralizer allows for the safe disposal of the condensate produced, preventing damage to the drain pipes and thus reducing any maintenance and repair costs.

The operation of an HCE Acid X® VENT acid condensate neutralizer is very simple, yet effective. The Acid X® VENT neutralizer is installed downstream of the boiler, thus conveying the acid condensate produced inside its bowl. The acid condensate thus passes through a charge of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) that raises its pH, allowing it to drain safely.

The frequency with which the calcium carbonate (CaCO3) charge of the Acid X® VENT acid condensate neutralizer needs to be replaced varies depending on the acidity and amount of condensate to be treated. Thanks to the transparent bowl, the level of granulate can be monitored and then refilled when necessary. Complete replacement of the charge is recommended at least once a year (for example, during periodic boiler maintenance).
